Promotional Umbrellas - The Show Stealers

A child would use tantrums to get attention; a fire truck’s siren will cause other cars to give way. A lady would dress to the nines to gain attention at a party. When it comes to gaining attention, people would use all the necessary ploys to get the much coveted attention. Just like people, businesses would use all the tricks in the trade to get attention too. Getting attention for your sales promotion is doubly important in business than in individuals. A company would need to gain the attention of the market to survive in the highly competitive world of business. A business that fails to generate attention is on the road to extinction. Getting noticed, however, could be a daunting task as all businesses are also like you…capturing attention for their own brand.

Promotional products are proven effective to generate attention of the target market. But then again just like you other businesses are using this cost effective marketing strategy. But you have an alternative course of action…making your promotional product a show stealer. Ordinary promotional products like the pen, mug, mouse mat, key rings will effectively generate attention but you can aim for a product that will generate maximum exposure of the company brand. A promotional umbrella has a very wide space for imprinting purposes. Unlike the pen where you can only imprint a line or two, the umbrella’s wide canvas can be imprinted with the company logo, contact information such as telephone numbers and website URL, and marketing slogan. Because of the wide space provided even recognitions and awards received by the company can be imprinted. This is a big plus in gaining attention as most people would like to be associated with a company that gained public acknowledgement.

Selecting the best promotional umbrella that will suit the type of target audience as well as an umbrella that will compliment the company colors and logo will be easy as many styles, designs and shapes are available to choose from. Aside from using the company colors you can further customize your promotional umbrella by imprinting designs that will reflect your type of business. For instance you have a pet shop or you are a dog food dealer, you can have dog paws imprinted on the umbrella. Religious passages and messages could be imprinted if you have a Christian bookstore. Go for fonts that can be clearly seen even from afar, this way brand visibility will be increased. Brightly colored promotional umbrellas will attract more attention. But the graphics of the imprint will surely make heads turn.

A promotional umbrella has enough space for imprinting. Umbrella’s wide area can be imprinted with the company logo, telephone numbers and website URL, and marketing slogan. Due its wide space even the achievements made by the company can also be highlighted. The attention of the customers can be attained due to large imprinting.

an umbrella used for promotional purposes is a very clever idea… think about the possibilites… say its rainy season… one will use the umbrella when he steps out…. and when its a branded one or some company is advertising on it he will get enormous mileage and eyeballs…. and since an umbrella’s area is large when compared to pens and mugs it attracts many a people’s attention…. for example i know of a local radio station got a huge boost in its listenership ratings once it used promotional umbrellas to shade local eateries as many people started to notice it…

umbrella is a great gift, and i for sure would be happy for one right now, as it rains a lot here. To use it as promotion gift, is obvious…a lot of passer buy would see the company logo you want to advertise/promote. Also a good thing, that they can come in all the different colour, so, it is easy to have one with your companies main clolur too.
And as above mentioned, they really can come in a larger size also, the use on events and fairs.

  4. Nicky Says:

This is a great idea! You bet I’m going to be grateful to a company when I’m out in the rain and they’re keeping me dry. (I can hear an insurance commercial playing in the background… hahaha). In all seriousness, I’ve not gotten an umbrella before, probably because they’re expensive, but I’d certainly use it. Also, not sure if this is being done, but it might be something of an idea to advertise on the inside of the umbrella too. It would again be a reminder to who is keeping me dry!

  5. Robert Says:

You’ll notice that women hate to get their hair wet. I’ll stop by the traffic lights or local mall, and noticed people holding paper bags over their heads. This is to prevent water from destroying that new hair cut. Believe it or not, hair cuts are expensive. Bet your buns that a promotional umbrella is a great idea. Most people are incredibly grateful when their hair is protected. Trust me, I would never forget your company name :)

  6. Atniz Says:

Umbrella comes handy in rainy days. Choosing rainy and dry season for umbrella promotions is the best choice. No one uses umbrella during normal days. Plus, choosing a stylish and easy to fold type of umbrella would add more plus points for our potential customers to bring along the umbrella wherever they go. It is a good idea for promoting a company. Choosing color codes that can be found in company’s logo is the best idea. It is best to change the company logo to striking color.

  7. Kayy Says:

Having attended trade shows both on the promoter side and with a buyer, I can tell you EVERYONE clamors for the promotional umbrellas. They stand out, they’re practical and regarded as a very high quality giveaway. Lots of companies reserve them for the select few customers and that gives the item additional prestige. When you see them carrying a beautiful golf umbrella especially, I believe “umbrella envy” breaks out at these events! :) A very powerful promotional item indeed.

  8. daniel Says:

Generally, I agree with others opinion as above. Absolutely promotional umbrella has a wide space for imprinting purposes. However, the space should be use creatively in order to attract the public attention.

Designing layout which focusing to expose your company logo, website and slogan or some additional info. Make sure the messages are visible and easily to understand by potential customers or public.

  9. charlie Says:

I agree to what aby says , as the umbrella has a large surface area when compared to the mugs and keyrings. Of course there is definitely more space to advertise in it. And the umbrella with some fancy colors will surely look catchy when seen even from a distance point. So the company’s logo will look amazing on the surface of the umbrellas.

  10. Geremy Says:

Yes, but not only that. Mugs and keyrings are mostly viewed by the person who wears them and maybe his family. Umbrellas are seen by hundreds or even thousands of people every time it rains. Also people don’t have a habit of changing umbrellas to often so it’s a long investment I’ll say.

  11. Carlos Says:

The high cost of a good quality umbrella means that they should be used only sparingly and for a targeted and special audience. The advantages are obvious - visibility and the ability to display your promotional message promionently and walking display. But bear in mind that this is part of A&P expenditure and should therefore be carefully spent.

  12. Robbie Aster Says:

Your blog has great ideas, which no one would have thought of. It has enlarged my vision on promotional gifts. Every time I visit here, it has encouraged me to think something new.

  13. Gary Says:

Umbrellas are my absolute favorite promotional item! Like Kayy states..people become envious when they see you with one! It’s another gift that people will most likely use and will never throw out. What better advertising medium can you think of? Although the costs can be a bit more than a lot of promotional items, once again the benefits far outweigh the cost. Whats even nicer, is the more colorful and outrageous you can make it the better.

  14. Andre Says:

Giving umbrellas as promotional gift is very costly. For me, this item usually used on big company, like banking, assurance company, etc. For small business company, it’s not recommended to use umbrella as promotional gift.
Anyway, this promotional item will be works only when raining season come.

  15. Tom Says:

Just like the taxi who has an advertising at the top of the hood, promotional umbrellas are walking advertising medium. Here in my place, even politicians are having their name and face printed on umbrellas for give-aways. This speaks of the effectiveness of the medium. Rain or shine, the brand/product is being promoted for others to see. My mother got two umbrellas printed with product names on it and everytime she is out, one of the umbrellas would surely be her companion.

If I were the owner of a business, I would surely have promotional umbrellas be given to my employees, friends and customers. And all employees would be required to use the umbrella. Brand awareness would certainly be heightened.

  16. Stefan Says:

well in my opinion many small companies may not be able to afford the cost of an umbrella, its really cool promotional item but still its expensive, I would love to have one for sure but still its a heavy expense on the one who gifts it for you.

  17. Fessen Says:

Umbrellas are such a great idea, as around the world umbrellas are used daily! And also umbrellas are so cheap to make and buy(poundshops), whack a logo on there and your company get’s advertised wherever you take it. All it takes is a few people to see the company name and your on your way.

  18. Jagan Says:

I guess, this is not a good idea. And cost wise also, this is not much affective. Caps come as close competition to this. The chances for people to use umbrella is little less and also, the chances for people (who also caarry umbrella) to notice your brand on a very rainy is quite low.
Hmm.. can some one let me know how good a umbrella is as a prmotional tool if i’m wrong?

  19. Lex Says:

I think an umbrella is a great promotional tool
Most people will have their own umbrellas that they like, but sometimes, when it starts raining without warning, that promotional umbrella that you received earlier and left forgotten at the office could just be a lifesaver.

The umbrella will go everywhere they go that day, so it’s a great promotional too, though quite expensive.

  20. Sirius Says:

Lex, you are absolutely right about the “lifesaving” feature of the umbrella in the office, but …
Promoting umbrellas is limited to places where rain is not a seldom occasion. There is not much logic to give away promotional umbrellas in some tropical countries - Egypt, Algiers, Tunisia for instance. Yet, such and act would look rather eccentric and draw people’s attention towards the product. It’s up to one’s creativity, I guess.

  21. Bowman Says:

The best part about umbrella is that you can place your company logo, company name & some text as there is good amount of space. Umbrella can work on all three seasons, but mostly in rain so it is a good promotional product.

  22. Hammy Says:

A promotional umbrella has abundant amplitude for imprinting. Umbrella’s advanced breadth can be imprinted with the aggregation logo, and business slogan. Due its advanced amplitude alike the achievements fabricated by the aggregation can additionally be highlighted. The absorption of the barter can be accomplished due to ample imprinting.
I have seen lot examples of it.

  23. Santosh Says:

As the promotion talk abt Umbrellas i personally think its one part of the promotion for a selected season like rainy i don’t think people will carry an Umbrella in winter so though its a bit expensive but Umbrella as a promotional gift is a really kewl idea

  24. Paula Says:

Umbrellas are great giveaways! Actually, its not only during rainy seasons that you can use it, but also in really hot, warm weather. It’s really a relief to be under a big umbrella while walking from the office to the next building or cafe or to your car parked in an open area under the blazing heat of the sun, this could save an impending splitting headache.
