Promotional Mouse Mats - Customise & Revitalize

You can see the average promotional mouse mat in every office. It can actually be a great promotional opportunity if companies only knew how to use it to the best effect. Having the company logo in constant view can have very positive effects.

For example, having the company emblem in sight can give a feeling of stability and belonging to the employees. A subtle reminder for the people who work for the company can give the much needed boost and reassurance that they are working for something that is real and tangible. For customers, this can help them become familiar with the company.

But why a mouse mat in the first place? Why not pens, notepads, mugs or caps? First of all, caps aren’t that fashionable if the company logo is printed on it instead of Nike or Adidas. Perhaps it could work for employees, but no guarantees there. Pens, mugs and notepads are already used by so many companies out there that it is hard for them to stand out as a promotional items.

But at the same time, the product should be commonplace enough that it’s used everyday. Promotional mouse mats are the practical choice as not only are they somewhat different, they also have a lot of potential. Firstly, mouse mats are easily customised. The shape, color, layout and even the surface can be altered in accordance to the company’s preference. Also, a mouse mat’s design is virtually like an ad space. Besides the logo, a company can even opt to add texts, symbols or images on the surface.

Do remember that research is still needed for this if the company wants to stand out and create a product that reflects them in a positive manner. Creating a promotional product, whether mouse mats or otherwise, is a make or break situation. If the quality is poor, people would immediately associate the poor quality with the logo imprinted on the mouse mat, not the nameless manufacturer.

So the company should research on their target market. What kind of people do they want to attract with these promotional mouse mats? This way they can design their mouse mats if they want it to be cool and trendy, or classic and clean, and so on.

Hence, when looking for a promotional product, promotional mouse mats are not only a convenient choice, but a clever one as well. Mouse mats are used everyday by computer users (even those with laptops), the price is manageable, and the possibilities are nearly endless. A pen is just a pen, but more innovations are possible with the simple mouse mat.

This article has proven many points. The best one I like was that the people see the same product every day so they somehow get curious and tell other people..

This is a very clever way to promote a product of a company.

  2. Carlos Says:

Your title say it all: customization. In today’s competitive business environment, many promotional items from many companies are floating around, so in order to make an impression, generic stuff just won’t do and customization is the key to differentiation.

  3. Zartan Says:

I seem to agree with Carlos; in today’s world of competitive business we all are looking for something different, something which is not a part of the bandwagon. And “WALAH” we here have a customized mouse pads for all the mousing activities that we can imagine.

  4. Hammy Says:

Its one thing I find in article is that, Its a necessity when you want to be make popular something is just by its logo like Adidas,Nike, etc. And yes compitive edge is here in any way you start anything. Here we have adapted a mouse, mouse pads for all the activities that we could imagine.

  5. sairam Says:

nice points…many advantage things to know how to popular something and its important to know such things to floating a product….there are many ways to promote a product, but this article familiarizes the points….

  6. Jack Says:

One point i liked the most is ‘a pen is a pen, and more innovations can be shown in mouse pads’. This is a very important point that has been mentioned in the article. We can have different types of designs, shapes and color to the mouse mat, but we can hardly show anything more than a logo in a pen.

  7. James Says:

Promotional mousemats in a public computer place like an internet cafe, or library is a great way to get a brand name in front of people. They could given to the cafe for free and if targeted to the crowd that frequents the place, could be very effective.

  8. surat Says:

It is a very important point that is mentioned in the article. We can use different types of models, shapes and colors in the mouse pads, but you can hardly show anything more than a logo in a pen.

  9. Chandru Says:

The best way to promote a product in the corporate world is to use promotional mouse mats. Promotional mouse mats is the cheapest way to promote any kind of business which targets corporate people or the people those who uses computers.

  10. benji Says:

the most notable point about the mouse mat is its cheapness. its available in cheap rates and it can very well serve the purpose its indended for. thats the main speciality of such a thing if it is used as a promotional gift.

  11. Edward Says:

This article makes a lot of very good points, but the thing that caught my eye the most was the idea of having a company’s emblem right in sight at all times that a person is on their computer.

From the amount of time that the average person or I should say average worker spends on their computer that is a huge amount of advertising time that a promotional mouse mat would create.

Not only does it enforce the status of a company, it subtly adverses for that company as well.

Plus the fact that the average user doesn’t replace their mouse mats very often means that this form of advertising as a long life span.

  12. Andrei Buiu Says:

I don’t know what to say about your last statement. A pen is not just a pen if it’s a good quality pen. Anyways, I’ve recently exchanged the mouse mats in the office (approximately 10 pieces) with new personalize ones. They had the logo of the company and textile top (for a more comfortable use of the mouse). My employees really appreciated the mouse mats, because they can work more comfortable know.

  13. titan Says:

At my place, not many people use mouse mats as promotional gift. Its a good idea but maybe its only works for some computer company or some company who related with software, computer or technology stuff. So far, its interesting idea. I always buy it because my friends collect it. :)

  14. Kempos Says:

One of the promotional products I strongly disagree with. How many people use mouse mats nowadays? It was cool idea a few years back with ball mouses everywhere. Now you have optical mouses in almost every office and they do not need mats - in my opinion.

I haven’t had one for a very looong time.

Whenever I get one it goes straight to the bin :)

  15. Velayudham Says:

As most other comments posted, I too think the mouse pads are not going to help us promote our business. Mostly the indoor items cannot be used as promotional items. The mouse pad may go un-noticed in many occasions. It may suit only to provide in the computer classses or labs where many different people uses the PC. I think there may be many other better promotional items than this.

  16. Nicky Says:

Promotion of product with the help of Mouse pads will be useless. Many people do not use mouse mats, some use laptops….So customers are not attracted with these sort of things. I mean there are a lot many other things which can be given like clocks, dairies..etc. But mouse pad wont work.

  17. Niku Says:

I completely agree with Jacks view that there is much more to be done with a mouse pad then can be done with other forms of promotion such as pens that cannot be changed very much past their basic look/use. Mouse pads are something that are used daily and can give the user a great sense of comfort for your company without even realizing it just by constantly seeing your name.

  18. aby Says:

here i agree with kempos….. not many people use mousemats today…. my computer guy recommends not to use mousemat for my optical mouse… and most of the times the mouse mat is covered by the mouse as we keep moving the mouse and the company logo or name is rarely visible and does not attract the attention…. so this is a no-no in my view of promotional products…

  19. pikunka Says:

The mouse mat as promotional tool would be maybe the best for office workers, people who mainly use computer everyday for work. But also now everyone has a computer at home too, so, it is really a nice way to out your brand logo to ‘their hand’. Seeing it every time at work, will help to build you recognition. They are also inexpensive.

  20. Nicky Says:

Aby, I tend to disagree with that. I still use them, though I do need something that has more of a harder cover to use with my optical mouse. I know that I don’t need one, it’s more of a comfort thing from older times I suppose. And I know a lot of my non-tech friends use them too, simply because it’s something they are used to doing. A lot of women seem to use them for their asthetic appeal as well. It’s all about targeting your demographic.

That also brings up a good point. In your promotions, don’t always go with what would work for you. Look at the data that is out there for your key demographic, and decide what’s going to appeal most to your customers.

  21. Kayy Says:

I’m surprised to see so many feel the mouse mat isn’t a useful promotional item these days. Having recently had to purchase a new mouse, for the first time in a decade I’m using an optical one. (I hate it…but that’s another story.) I still have my mouse mat though because it has something printed on it I look at each and every day several times- a calendar.

Buying a new mouse isn’t something you do all the time. It’s a fair bet there’s still plenty of people out there using a regular ball mouse that would be glad of a free promotional mouse mat. Maybe in a few years time when those types become obsolete there won’t be much demand for mouse mats, but me, I’ve loved getting them for decades. Thanks to the companies giving them away, I’ve never had to buy one in my life. I think there’s still plenty of life in that particular item in the near term future and wouldn’t be dismissive of it yet.

  22. aby Says:

i didn’t realise that there quite a few upsides to using a mouse mat… i thought they were old fashioned… i had earlier used one where it is cushioned at the wrist and it had a nice feel to it…. and also that calender and i also saw one with a simple calculator with it… so if the person promotes his brand along with these accessories they will prove to be useful and the brand gets recognized….

  23. daniel Says:

James, I agree with you. Internet cafe, computer labs and library is suitable place to promote your company by using mouse mats. Easy and effective way to spread your company to public.

Besides, I also agree with Edward too. About Kempos opinion, I think it depends on place and your targeted customers. For example, at my place there are a lot of internet cafe and computer labs still using mouse mats.

That why you should survey you customers first, isn’t?

    p.s: Kayy, I think you’ve great opinion! :-)

  24. Geremy Says:

The customization options are a great thing i love about mouse mats. I think they are great for motivating your employees. For example you can print this year’s company goals on them, so whenever an employee feels tired or thinks he is working to much to help him keep going. Especially in small business’s struggling to survive.

  25. Arrow Says:

Mouse pads are good too. I recently went to an internet cafe, there i saw so many computers for each of the mouse pad had a good rediff.com mouse pad with eye catching color, i am sure it would definitely appeal to all the customers of the internet cafe. Yes, mouse pad as promotional product definitely is a good option.

  26. Robbie Aster Says:

Really amazing and great site. All the articles convey some new knowledge, which helps in promotion and motivation. Really a great site, it has lots of interesting promotional gift posts.

  27. Gary Says:

Mouse mats are absolutely wonderful and as Kayy stated, should not be overlooked or dismissed so quickly. What better kind of item than an item that gets looked at constantly? Talk about exposure and longevity! Isn’t that what is trying to be achieved with any promotional product? Even after the world is overrun with optical mice, the mouse pad with your logo and info on it will still be used. Hint..they make great coasters!

  28. Tom Says:

Promotional mouse mat is now joining the league of popular give-away items. Aside from pens, mugs, umbrellas, caps, keyrings, etc, another effective message bearer is the mouse mat.

Now, if I am to decide which items to choose, I would consider mouse mats if my targeted audience are the young generation who are computer savvy and already into the internet bondwagon. Certainly, if I am into these market segment, giving away mouse mats could help my brand be identified with my targeted market.

And I think mouse mats are very cheap just like the pen. The big advantage is you have a big surface area to print the brand and the message.

  29. Stefan Says:

mouse pads are good but the question is how many of us really use mouse pads nowadays? I think the mouse pad is slowly becoming extinct after the introduction of optical mouse, you may find the mouse pads on internet cafe which still run on old technology and old mouse with muse balls. but really majority don’t use mouse pads nowadays as far as I have noticed it is slowly reducing, I wont go for mouse pads, if I want to promote my company through promotional gifts.

  30. Fessen Says:

Mousemats are always handy, as when using a pc, you need a mouesemat so you are not using a rough surface. When you are on the computer for a timely amount of time you want something soft under your hand to avoid getting RSI.

  31. Lex Says:

I don’t really think promotional mats are too important nowadays.
With optical mouses, mouse pads aren’t really needed unless you have a bad table surface. I personally never use mouse mats, so I would prefer some other products like pens or umbrellas.

  32. Nelson Says:

i recieved mouse mat when i bought my hcl desktop.Mouse mats are good promotion tactic and also long term as mouse mats are long lasting.it keeps reminding of the brand name and whenever we are out to buy something new we always preffer the same brand instead of trying out any new brand.Keeps sticking people to brand and a effective promotional item.
