Promotional Mugs
An eye-catching mug filled with a steaming hot drink atop a working desk is not an unusual sight. Coffee, for instance, ranks highest among the beverages consumed by most people around the world. Employees and workers are known to reach for a mug of this hot invigorating drink while mulling over reports. At home mums would reach for a mug of beverage in between chores. Companies launching advertising campaigns should bear this in mind.
A mug is an ideal promotional gift since it provides ample space to imprint the company logo, company slogan as well as website URL. Being constantly used, a promotional mug would create name awareness. A mug on top of a desk would catch the attention of other people especially if the shape is quite unique and the graphics and imprint is attention- grabbing.
The most common earthenware mugs can be made into attractive and eye-catching promotional mugs by glazing and by using striking colors for the imprint. These kinds of mugs are ideal as giveaways for product launches, for seminar and convention giveaways, and as trade fair freebies. But if you are thinking of giving your business associate or a CEO with a promotional mug, the more upmarket bone china mug is a good choice.
Promotional mugs are also used as gifts to employees during anniversaries, retirement, promotions, and birthdays. Giving promotional gifts during these events fosters good employee-employer relationship. Giving out mugs as promotional gifts for completing a project or for attaining a sales target would boost employee morale. Because of this employee recognition continuous dedication to the company will be assured.
Promotional mugs are also used as a part of a mailing campaign package. Mailing campaigns are done by companies to gain new clients. This campaign is aimed to boost sales. Mailing campaign letters will most likely end up in the dustbin as many people are too busy to bother with letters introducing new products and services. But try to mail a promotional mug along with the sales pitch. Your introductory letter will surely be opened because lumpy mails would attract the attention of the recipient. They can’t help but take notice of the mailing campaign more so if the mug is pretty unique and attractive. A draw back of this idea is that mugs could be broken while in transit. Using polystyrene postal cartons will address this concern.
Mugs are ideal promotional products because of it usefulness. Users could get attached to pretty promotional mugs so that once chipped, these mugs would still occupy desk space and be used as pen holders instead of being thrown away.

Is the promotional pen dead? With so many pens around my desk I don’t take too much notice of whats on them they just get put in my drawer. On the other hand a coffee mug is always by my side filled up with tea or coffee to keep me surfing all day. What do you think gets noticed the most?

Sonny I think we all keep a mug on our desk to keep us going through the busy day but I disagree that the pen is dead as every type of promotional product has its place. The pen gives people an inexpensive option and pens have a habit of being passed from one person to another thus spreading the message further.

Cheers for the promotional mug. If a mug becomes a favorite for a customer that customer will take it with them wherever they go. That is great product, website visibility and possible customers from a potentially loyal mug user.

a mug can be put anywhere… even on your desk at the office. Yes it is eye catching item. Design it with some new modern or hot classic shape, mug is here to stay.
The visibility is high same as promotional caps.

Both Sonny and Bec have a point about promotional pens and travel mugs. I love using both of these for my promotional tools. It is exactly what Bec mentioned that I never tire of using pens, while the mug gets noticed just as Sonny said, in the case where my clients drop by my office.

I think that reading all the comments we are all in favour of the coffee mug and now we have the addition of the travel mugs which you often see people using on the bus or train. This will show off a company brand to even more people as they travel around.

I like the idea of having a promotional mug and there are so many options in terms of colours, shapes and sizes. Most people in an office have a mug on their desk or in staff kitchens so the company name is going to be well publicised. I know that a couple of well known coffee shops have their own range of collectable mugs with the company branding and was thinking of having my tall skinny latte in one of those!

Mugs a are good way to promote. Mugs are being used by different people for different things, some like to use Mugs to drink coffee or tea, some like to store their stationery etc in it. So Mugs are really a good way of promotion.

mugs can be an interesting way to promote . but the problem is that it pertains to a narrow subject. and mugs can be easily broken . and the promo can go . but in the case of a usb such a thing wont happen . and its awkward to present a mug during some situations.

I agree with Benji.I also think that the most important thing about promotional mugs is they to be eye catching and attention grabbing. This way the logo of the company will get a great exposure.

I like Jonesey opinion and I agree that both promotion items have their strength and weakness. But we could use both of it in different ways. If we use the correct strategies, I’m sure that both promotional items will works! We should realize that most of us use pen and mugs. So, we knows that both have potential to be the great promotional items.

As i said before in other post that mugs are the best promotional product but making a eye catching promotional mugs is something important and something which should be done rightly.

May be the material of the mugs needs to be overviewed. If its of glass material or of ceramic, it can be broken easily. Go for some other material for which it will have a long life so that the product is remembered. If the quality of the mug is poor, remember it will create a bad impression upon the company.

Nice article. When we are in office, home or in restaurant, we all use mugs. Its nice tool for promoting a product around people. Mostly people will consider that mug if that mug has a different shape or design.
This thing will make it more useful tool for promotional advertising.

Hmmm well since mugs are objects who are used at home or at work id say its not a very good advertising idea cause not too many people will see it…

We liked this post. As avid lover of coffee and for someone who consumes 10-12 cups, your post sticks. We liked the style of writing too! Great job!!
