Promotional Coasters Don’t have to be Boring!
It may never have occurred to you to use a promotional coaster as one of your marketing tools. You probably thought ‘What a boring gift’, but you would be missing out on a very powerful subliminal adverting product. Remember your last visit to your local pub or restaurant? What did you place your glass on? That’s right; it was a cleverly placed promotional coaster.
Of course there is still a place for traditional type coasters, but now you can get them made from recyclable material. This is particularly favourable in today’s political environmental friendly climate. Your company can have a custom made promotional coaster. This could feature the company logo, a promotional photograph, and company calendar. You can choose a specific design or shape.
Remember quality matters, so buy the very best promotional coasters available.

I think it would be best to watch the cost for coasters. They are a great idea and it would be great to distribute them at bars and at catered events but it seems like the promotional reach of coasters is not that high.

I am not so sure on this smithy as most desks in our office have several coasters on them for the coffee, cold water and guests. They also provide good coverage for bar and catering promotions. I was at a fresher fair last year and they were giving out branded coasters to all the students.

I am rather dubious to the use of coasters as promotional material for the simple reason that they are hardly in use nowadays either because of the good protective table-top material or laziness in not using it. But if coasters are designed attractively, they can serve as good company keepsake and momento.

Coaster shouldn’t be boring. They have to be different from the usual tradition. This way it will grab the customer’s attention and will increase the chances of a good promotion.

Huh, I agree with Carlos. I get your idea and I also have a few collection of promotional coasters. But from my experiences, when I go to any restaurants, I really didn’t care about their coasters. Maybe the coasters didn’t attracted me very much. As that reason, I also agree with this post and didonko opinion. Coaster shouldn’t be boring. It must could be compete with the delicious taste of the foods and drinks at the restaurant!

I think that coasters are a useful promotional item but they must be made out of something longer lasting than cardboard or thick paper. I received a coaster in a Credit Union promotional bag last month and was disappointed by how fragile it was. You want your item to stay exposed to the public for as long as possible therefore it must be at least a little durable!

Costers can use in multiple places as promotional items, which make them also a great way to make your brand known. Can be used in the office, at conferences, and of course people can use it in there homes too. Where i worked last we also had the for the coffee, and also different for the drinks.

Conrad, that is an excelent point! I tend to not take any interest in a cardboard coaster. It feels “Throw away” to me. And of course, thats generally what I do with them after one use. I have to think there is someething symbolic in your company logo being thrown away. lol. If I get coasters as a promotion, they need to be at least plastic. Something that when spilt or dripped on, will be worth wiping off and using again.
And think about the opportunity there. The coaster is picked up, looked at, wiped off, and “Oh, ABC company… should call them to get more XYZ’s” Okay, so thats the hope anyway!

A clever design of the coaster is the first step. The next step is to distribute them to places where your targeted clients are supposed to be found. Imagine a company selling high class jewelry to have a logo imprinted on a coaster handed out to you in a bar. More appropriate place would be a lounge bar or something similar.

My thumbs down to coasters, nobody actually notices coasters. It is most of the time covered with a glass, cup, mug or whatever, so i would definitely not recommend it as a promotional product. I have never seen a person taking special interest on a coaster & asked for it.

I will agree with arrow, please don’t waste your money with coasters, it is the worst investment you could ever make for a companies promotion. Even if you make it attractive no one really cares to take it around. It will mostly go to their garbage.
