Caps as a Promotional Tool
Caps are a very common promotional item. It is typically used because a wide variety of people find them useful. It can be used in a variety of situations and settings. The sheer versatility afforded by this item makes is a very attractive option for use as a promotional giveaway.
In many trade shows, conventions or even promotional fairs, caps are a common sight. Many companies typically give away caps as it is a very easy and effective marketing tool. Because of the visibility afforded when using a cap, it is easy to establish brand recognition as more and more users wear the caps given away. Bright colors or vibrant designs are excellent attention grabbers.
As such, it is very important to place the company name and company logo to take advantage of the fact that so many convention goers use the giveaways given to them. The booth attendants should be wearing the caps themselves to quickly establish the company they are working for.
Aside from aesthetic values, caps offer good functionality. They offer warmth and protection which makes it ideal to be worn in a lot of settings that they are commonly utilized. In a lot of conventions or trade fairs, the sheer amount of promotional items given away can prove to be a hassle to carry. Caps are different as they can easily be worn, removing the need to carry them. Wearing the cap may also help satisfy the need of the visitors to participate in the revelry involved.
When producing promotional caps, it is very important to create a solid and fully functional cap. As with all things, quality is very important. Sacrificing the quality of a promotional cap to acquire them at cheaper prices may prove to backfire on you. Creating shoddy items can lead to a negative experience for those involved. Not only will they not be worn, leading to a lack of visible presence for your company products, they might even be discarded. It is obviously very damaging for a company to find their product on a trash bin.
Choosing the right type of material can help improve the quality of your promotional cap. Be sure that the material is not only durable, but also very comfortable to wear. Some convention goers might even continue using the caps outside of the gathering if they find them very useful. This leads to even greater visibility for your company. Comfort is also a very important factor. Choose a fabric appropriate to the situation, say perhaps related to the weather.

I agree with this topic. It is true that caps are the most effective advertising medium. If you want to advertise using caps as the medium make sure you can come out with very unique and interesting design.
Beside the company logo, make sure you choose the right combination of color that suits your company profile.
And don’t forget, some people they keep promotional caps as their collectable item which they treasure for years to come.

I think promoting with caps, t-shirts, key-rings, mugs, etc. is a great offline marketing strategy. We all know that getting the right keywords for a search is helpful to get traffic for on-line marketing. With offline marketing, you can get the keywords directly out to your customers and get product’s web address, brand name, etc. to your customers also.

it’s all about brand at the end of the day, if consumers buy your product or service because they thrust your brand, you can insulate yourself from price competition and and competetion from cheapm own brands as well. If you want to make money in the long term, build a brand of some sort and when you come to sell your business, your competitors will pay top dollar for what ?, your brand and customer base that comes with it.

I agree that caps are one of the most practical promotional products a business can invest it. I also very much agree that you will lose your investment if you decide to go cheap and get shoddy quality promotional caps — for me, items like that easily goes into my bin.

I understand why baseball caps are such a great promo item in the states where everyone wears them, but why are so many used in the UK, do people really wear caps over here, not convinced your logo would be seen on a promotional cap in this country.
August 26th, 2008 at 10:01 am
A cap is an excellent item to be used as a promotional item because people are more inclined to wear it without feeling as if they’re being used to promote something.
And they can wear or take it off whenever they like it.
August 26th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
I think you will find that most of our younger men in the UK love to wear baseball caps, quite a lot wear them the wrong way round of course but I think that’s just copying what the sportmen are doing. Whichever way round they get worn they will still display the promotional message.
August 26th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
I agree Bec you now seem to see lots of baseball caps being worn by the younger element. I think it is very trendy and all of them seem to have some form of advertising on them.
August 29th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Caps are indeed a great way to promote a company. For me, I will choose a lighter background so that the company’s logo can standup. Make sure good material is used so that the cap can last and not be easily thrown away by the user!

Yes, caps are a great way of promotion. The better looking they are the more people are going to use and see it. I never thought about the durability, but yes u have said it right. Things need to be durable and comfortable which can really make people use them.

When trying to promote a business through gifts, the key problem is to find something people will use often enough to make some promotion with it. And caps are surely one of them. They are used almost through all the year, which ensures that they’ll get a high exposure.
September 2nd, 2008 at 5:41 pm
Giving away caps is really a good promotional content. Caps are extremely useful entities. As you said giving away caps with good quality is very important, apart from caps each and every promotional content must be made with good quality off course.
When ever i receive/buy anything even for free, I check the quality and comfort mostly.
September 2nd, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Caps are a very effective way of advertising as they are very useful and can easily be worn. Putting the brand name or the website address on the caps can definitely help in increasing the popularity. I also agree that the material used in such caps should be comfortable as it can create a negative impact on the image of the company.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:00 pm
Promotional caps are not the most important thing for me when i make a site. However, i agree with all the people above that caps are very good for promotion and gaining rating fast. They are often used because of the great exposure throughout the year.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:47 pm
i accept that caps are a good option. but it has got some problems. many section of society wont find it very useful in day to day life. like the grown ups wont use it very often .
September 4th, 2008 at 10:29 am
I think most of people love caps and I agree that caps are a natural marketing
tools. Its really works! We wear caps at the top and everyone can see it easily. If the designs and
logo look so cool, I believe the caps lover will use if often. Then, your company could be expose to public easily.
September 5th, 2008 at 5:08 am
Caps are good if what you try to promote is something related to sport or technology. Even some wear them maybe but others not wear caps but they still can keep them. Truly agree with what already mention by the others.
September 7th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Promoting through caps is a better way to do so. Most of the people look at each others caps and comment to each other. So they indirectly see the company and gets aware of it. It can be useful way though less company prefer to use it.
September 7th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Like Abhishek said, everyone looks at each others hats. They are worn all the time and will be seen as many times the person wears it and more. It would be very cool if you could find a hat collectors convention or something like that and then sell your hats cheap, hahaha. That way you know at least some will sell.
September 7th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Some tourist company, golf company and some airplane company always use caps as their promotional item. Some of them sell it or give it as gift. I like it even its looks cheap. Sometimes its really branded and looks new. My father always collect it any caps that he get from any event that he go. Sometimes i become weird why so many caps in house when i was kids. But i understand now..
September 8th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Lol.. Ethan you are talking about making money from promotional caps ?? Wonder who would be desperate enough to buy stuff that is available for free. I think caps are a wonderful promotional tool if they are associated with games or a cool company. Most co’s who sponsor various games like cricket and tennis have great logos and fab colours that one would love to show off . Like you said titan if the caps belong to a golf or an airplane company then they become real eyecatchers.
September 8th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Caps will pull the crowd in their first looks. So it needs to be in proper color. It must also be elegant. Most of the give away caps like this will not be proper in looks. So companies must take utmost care in their quality material also. This will ensure that people will have a liking to wear the cap. Only then the true notion will be satisfied.
September 8th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Yes, I think they are a terrific way to promote your business BUT I think it may work better towards men and children. I don’t think women in general will be keen about wearing a cap with a big name brand on it. Anthony is also right about this tool working more on the sport area.
September 9th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
The perfect hair Fanatic! I am graceful and full of passion. In fact, my hair needs to be well groomed when I meet the public. That being said, there are times when I am in a rush. There is no time for me to comb, groom and love my hair. I feel comfortable wearing a baseball cap cause it protects me from feeling embarrassed. Promotional caps give you that acceptance. Nobody seems to be looking at your dirty blonde hair
What is my point here? Good question. In simple terms, people like myself are always on the look out to purchase a baseball cap.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
I think it is not the best way to use cap as promo tool. I agree with Susanne that women and children not into cap wearing. It might works if it is for sports marketing tools especially baseball. Thus, cap has no versatility as a marketing tools plus it is not as cheap as other promotional products.
September 16th, 2008 at 10:31 am
I think that using Caps or hats is generally a good idea but when designing the hat or cap the promote must ensure that they are of a decent quality and do not look ridiculous because they are an item if clothing after all. Also what Susanne says about women and children not being big cap wearers is correct as far as I am concerned.
September 16th, 2008 at 11:07 am
caps with some cool weird symbols make it likely for tenns , to look at it, specially the caps in dark color with some contrast color at its ends , makes it look really very cool .
September 17th, 2008 at 9:50 am
Caps are nice tool for promoting business with pleasure of people.
Cap is liked by many people. Specially when we are watching movie in cinema or watching cricket in stadium. Its great tool to express your product to all other people. As amigos said it is important to make variety in cap designs. Caps should be in better quality otherwise people will neglect them.
September 17th, 2008 at 11:46 am
Caps will serve out to be a good promotional tool in all kind of places ranging from office to school to cinema halls.People tend to wear caps in sunny days to get protection from sun and students wear them in school as they thing caps will make them look cool.
But companies must make sure that the quality of the caps is good of people will tend to throw them like other rubbish promotional items.
September 17th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Many people wear caps. And many people like promotional caps but they must be free! I think that because nobody will buy a cap with slogan “Lose weight for 2 weeks with ****” But if its free more people will want this cap and this will be great promotional tool. This is one of the best promotional tools because many people like caps and I think that everyone read texts on it :).
September 23rd, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Caps are worn by many people and putting your company’s logo is a very useful and creative idea. I feel caps are more visible than folders or key rings , so it tends to pull the crowd’s attention towards you. Most of the people in the crowd read whats written on the caps or check the logo, so promotional caps are useful here. along with the logo, the quality should also be kept in mind, so that it doesn’t get old quickly and can be worn most of the times by the recipient.
September 23rd, 2008 at 2:16 pm
I wear hats all the time and appreciate very much when a company gives me a free hat. I know quite well that they have had people see their promo as part of me wearing their free cap. Good quality should used when having them done up though. If the person likes to wear the cap…then the more the free advertising.
Jack has a good point about the durability of the cap extending the life of the cap.
September 24th, 2008 at 5:10 am
Using a promotional baseball cap to promote one’s company is a genius idea.
Not only do you get great exposure from the strategy but the life span is huge.
I know from personal experience that if a person favors a certain baseball cap, they will keep it for years and years.
No other form of advertising last that long!
So I do strongly believe this is an excellent way to go.
September 26th, 2008 at 7:47 am
In my town, some football and golf club using this as their promotional gift. I always get caps when i play that at that club. Every season, i will get different caps. HOho, its really interesting and i already collect many different cap which have different design. Sometimes it looks cool.
September 30th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Hmmm well id say no because even if your outside how many people will look at the text of your cap ?? i mean sure wouldnt.. and even IF then i would immediately forget what i just saw… so no i dont think so…
but maybe at some kind of event or something it”ll be useful like a concert or a party or something..
September 30th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Promotional caps might be a good option from the point of view of the company but not very useful for day-to-day life.Nevertheless, a hat with durable material and embroidered with a promotional message or company’s logo is a great giveaway.
October 2nd, 2008 at 11:17 am
as the blog says the company should not compromise on the quality of the material used to manufacture the caps… a person who is comfortable with the cap will start wearing it to other places even after the exhibition where he got the cap…. thereby increasing the awareness about the company as a cap is clearly visible it being on the person’s head…. for eg consider a locality which has its baseball team….a small kid wearing the teams hat increases the teams prescence and unites the whole locality into cheering for the team…

I do find that I will wear a cap of a business that I’m allready fond of. It certainly can’t hurt to target your more loyal customers with caps to let them show their pride in your business. As for a new company, I for one NEVER wear their cap’s, simply because I don’t know what I’m promoting and I’m picky about my headwear. T-shirt’s are a different story, I’m lazy at times, and a clean t-shirt is a clean t-shirt! lol.
October 12th, 2008 at 7:15 am
I have a collection of sponsored caps with me. All of it looks awesome. Choosing cap as a promotional tool is a very good step. Certain color of caps get really good attention and the users are proud to wear it because they look cool. So, getting a cool and trendy type of cap to promo our brand is the vital tool in cap promotions.
October 30th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Promotional caps are of course on of the best ways to promote a company and its products and of course it is a very good promotional gift for the employees , everybody love caps . According to my opinion it would be great if the logo of the company is printed behind the cap.
October 30th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
A well designed promotional cap embedded with the companies logo and color is always a pleasure to wear. Even if you are not a customer or an employee. The fashionable look and trendy colors will always capture the looks of the surrounding people.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Cap is the best promotional product, nobody can by pass this promotional product for sure. Cap is the best. The color of the printed logo or company name should mix well with the overall color of the cap, if it is not matching, the promotion will fail for sure.
October 31st, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Interestingly, this was on CNN last week….
November 7th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Wearing cap is popular most especially with men, however some women also love it anyway. Promotional cap is certainly an effective way of getting the message across. Just like the umbrella and bag, the visibility factor is the one we are looking for here. On the personal level, there is also a sense of endorsement from the wearer of the cap. And it would certainly help if you got a chance to distribute promotional caps to persons of authority such as CEOs, managers, politicians, celebrities and others.
The colors and the design of the cap should always reflect the brand being pushed. The brand must be prominently emboidered or printed on the cap for maximum exposure and quality must never be overlooked just because they are give-aways.
November 7th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
I really have a strong feeling that caps and T-shirts are not a very effective way for promotion unless it has a great design and colour and also good quality which many of the companies don’t go for, And also many don’t like to wear a T-shirt with a company logo on it which is not so popular among people.
November 7th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
Whether it’s hot summer or cool winter. No matter the season is, Caps are for everyone. Especially these are good promotional tools when given away to people working in mines, general stores, gas stations or street sellers where the chance of recognition for the company logo on the cap is very high.
November 7th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
I love wearing caps, everyone wears them.
The amount of companies that produce caps with their logo on them is vast. caps are easy to wear and can just be put on whatever the situation or even taken off easily.
November 8th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
i surely agree with you saying, caps have become a good promotional item and has become very popular among business people.Caps with stylish logo can attract not only the person it is gifted but also other people who watch him as he walks in the roadside.
If u want bulk publicity then go for caps.
November 9th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
I like using and owning some promotional caps. One should have a variety of them - to fit them to one’s clothing. Mostly they are in some exuberant colours and are to be easily spotted.
Stefan - about the promotional T-shirts. There is much risk in giving t-shirts away, since there is such a vast taste in colours and design. Yet, there are some companies who have their “typical” colours and are worldwide famous with them. Using this colour won’t shock the user that much and he’ll use it.
November 10th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
Caps are stand outs, they are the best promotional gifts. The first glance will be on the cap of a person, so it is the best promotional gift. The logo and colours of the cap should match well to look good, otherwise it will be disasterous campaign.
November 15th, 2008 at 12:02 am
I think the more trendy type of hats is a better idea then the regular baseball caps. Teens seem to wear a hat ALL the time as long as they are “hip”. But maybe I’m wrong, maybe the hats are a good investment. Good article none the less.
