In the company where I worked before, business gifts are the choice promotional and marketing tool, and everyone loves freebies! Because of this, many of our major customers would drop by once in a while in case they get a freebie. Of course they’ll get one — and we get a new project!

If you think about it Jonesey what better way to get your message across than with a freebee with so many different products to choose from I am sure that something suitable can always be found. Sometimes all it needs is a little bit of imagination.

Business gifts are very nice, especially in the big companies. People will always want freebies, and this way they will give a boost in the company advertising. Everyone enjoys a gift, no matter if there is a company logo on it. They just see the logo the open the gift. But this seeing is very important actually for the development of the company whose logo it is.

The major considerations whether a company should give out business gifts or freebies to my mind are two-fold; on the one hand is the cost (expense) of the gift and on the other is the perceived value of the gift to the prospect. If cost is too high and/or there is no perceived value, then a gift is meaningless and may be counter-productive.

The points you have mentioned in your article are very good. You are right that companies don’t care how much they loose in their advertisements. They just do so and do it in large numbers to yield better results. These multinational companies have so much extra money that they don’t see what they are wasting in and in what they are utilizing in.But either ways they have their good results. And there all over productivity is increased.

I feel Business gifts are a nice way to promote their business or product. Whenever the recipients use the gift, the logo hits their eyes and keeps reminding them of their product, and this way it instills their name in the minds of the recipients and the next time they go for shopping, the people want to try/check out their products. So, that’s a really good way of advertising.

“Business gifts make the recipient feel appreciated”
I agree with this one. Some company not really care about that and just leave their customer with empty hand or just feed them with some candy only. But some promotional gift will become nice gift to them and might be someone will like to joint venture with you in future.
So, nothing wrong if you contributed with this idea.

I always enjoy recieving a gift from a company. It says to me “We don’t expect your business, we treasure it”. There has never been a time that I’ve recieved a quality gift from a company where I scoffed or said something bad about them. True, they don’t always convert me to do more business, but if they are doing their homework, they’re doing efficient targeting and will see conversion on a good percentage of their folks.
That reminds me of another thing. Don’t give up on those who don’t convert right away. I remember recieving a gift from a company 3 years in a row that I hadn’t purchased from in that entire time. On the third year, I actually happened to need their services, and gave them a call. The timing was great, and the yearly reminder they were still around just reinforced they were a solid company!

I agree with most of you but Nicky’s last statement is where my heart is. If a company sends gifts a couple off years in a row it’ shows that she wants to provide you with good quality services not a one time scam sort of speak.

This is really good idea to try.
Nicky has said it all in a more elaborated way.
Keep up with your old customers. Don’t let them go.
Keep them reminded that you trust their loyalty.
The sweets might be eaten, the mug may be thrown, but not the memories..

Business gifts as you said should be choosen in a proper way. When it comes to gifts it does not matter what its going to cost you,may be less or more but it should fit in the day to day life of your customer. My experince says that if you have good tatics for advertizing your business then choosing even cheap but useful promotional product can result in huge market success.
